Want a really fun book club experience while you are waiting for your next club trip? Here is an interactive virtual experience that works equally well for an in-person or a virtual book club.
This virtual tour is a great addition to a meeting for either one of two recent popular books – The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold (a non-fiction title) or Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco (a YA historical fiction/mystery title). When you sign up, you’ll pick a date and time to ensure you have a true small-group experience. Times shown are in UK BST time, so make sure you convert to your local time here.

History fans will enjoy The Five by Hallie Rubenhold who pieces together the lives of the Ripper’s five victims from public records and has a very different take on the killings than popular belief. She makes some very convincing points. You won’t be disappointed. If YA historical fiction fits the style of your club better, the Stalking Jack the Ripper is a really good choice. You’ll find the 17-year-old heroine, Audrey Rose Wadsworth, to be an intelligent, strong-willed, compelling character. I love reading about strong female heroines and this, the first installment in the Stalking Jack the Ripper series did not disappoint. I found the next two books in the series to be less appealing in that aspect. It was as if I was reading about a completely different Audrey Rose, but the first book got 5 stars on Goodreads from me.
The Online Jack the Ripper Murder Mystery takes you to the streets of London in 1888 where your group will trace the footsteps of the Ripper’s victims and learn about their lives and their gruesome deaths. The tour lasts one hour, so it would fit nicely in your normal meeting or it could be a fun “outing” between your regular meetings.
